Fall is almost over and that's my last opportunity to bake autumn cupcakes!
I had seen some hedgehog cupcakes here and I wanted give them a try.
I also wanted make some fall cupcakes in red/orange/brown/green shades that would remind of fallen leaves.
Let's see how I made them...
I baked my cupcakes and I covered them with a thin layer of frosting
I dipped them in home-colored sugar
I found out that brown sugar works better for this recipe, 'cause granules are bigger and the result is more sparkling
red & green cupcakes would be perfect for x-mass, too!
And that's the fun part!
here is how I made my cute hedgehogs
first I colored the fondant light-brown using a tablespoon of cocoa powder.
then I rolled it and I cut cycles using a glass
I also colored dark brown fondant with a bigger amount of cocoa.
I re-cut the cycles with the glass, so as to make a half-moon
After I "glue" the two brown pieces using frosting, I colored some more fondant to make the bows.
To make them, I rolled three little balls. The two balls got a triangle like shape and the third one were used as connecting piece.
To make them more realistic, I added little balls as noses and I painted eye details using a toothpick and food coloring.
Finally I piped their thorns!
